My thesis question is ‘How do we help people discern true news from fake news in the digital era?’ Fake news is a widespread problem on social media. Fake news erodes people’s trust in the news. Believing fake news can have real-life consequences. Discerning the facts and fictions of a news story becomes a key cognitive ability for young people in today’s digital news world.

As a graphic designer and college student, I intend to help students like me get news information from media with minimal partisan bias. According to the Digital Forum, students are consuming massive amounts of news stories from many different sources. Fake news is sowing confusion in social media and students do not know what to believe. To protect the digital news landscape, let’s work together to take on fake news.
